July Trail Crew Update

During July, our Trail Maintenance Specialist, worked hard in Iron County. The Virgin River Rim Trail desperately needed some maintenance and Bill answered that call. This trail is extremely popular and with Bill’s help, it has been updated for better, safer riding.

So, what does Bill do exactly? Well, he spends time cleaning debris out of existing drains, cutting, removing downed trees with a hand saw, and cutting new drains where it made sense. He also spends time cleaning the “go arounds” of the trees that are too big to tackle with a hand saw. These “go arounds” had previously been established by riders.

Bill will continue to work in Iron County until the weather cools. At which time, he will head down to Washington County to continue trail maintenance. We want you to enjoy the trails that he is working so hard to maintain! Make sure to tag us on social media and get the word out about Bill’s amazing work.

How to get to The Virgin River Trail:

From Cedar City, drive 11 miles east on U-14 to Woods Ranch. Leave a vehicle at the parking area of the second entrance (the gravel road that comes in parallel to the highway is the end of the trail). Continue east on U-14 to 33 miles from Cedar City and turn right on Strawberry Road and keep straight to Strawberry Point, 9 miles. You’ll pass the trail marker on the left-hand side of the road about 1/2 mile before the overlook.
