Brian head odyssey
We are proud to be the official bike shop sponsor for the Brian Head Odyssey.
Now three years in, we can confidently say this course tests racers in every way possible. For starters, the majority of the race takes place around 10,000 feet. It peaks over 11,000 feet twice! The altitude is only one of the challenges presented. The course uses techy singletrack that is chunky and rowdy challenging the skills of all racers.
And then there's the climbing. Not only is the race sitting at high altitude, but there is little relief for riders as they bomb rocky downhills and then turn to climb back up to the top of the mountain. It's a challenge that keeps racers coming back year after year to see if they've still got what it takes to make it to the finish line.
91 racers lined up this year to see how things would go. The weather was perfect. Blue skies and a cool breeze accompanied the riders on their journey.
KC and Chris Holly took both the Women's and the Men's Elite categories this year. Being veterans of the race, they showed up ready and their results showed it.

two distances
The Odyssey can be tackled at the full distance of 43 miles. The half distance length is 19 miles. Both challenge racers with steep climbs and high altitude.

killer trails
The challenge of the course is only part of the appeal. The singletrack incorporated into this race course are fun, fast and techy.

escape the heat
The high altitude provides awesome July weather with crisp mornings an afternoons in the 70s.
