In an effort to see what this bike is really capable of, we put bigger tires on it and sent it down the Bear Claw Poppy Trail.

Overall, the bike did great. It did develop some creaking that we later confirmed was just a super dry chain caused by the infamous moon dust that forms out here.

A couple of highlights:

  • The hoods are fantastic. Being able to brake through techy trail from the top of the hoods is a game changer.
  • The front end tracks really well. You point it and the bike is going that direction.
  • The 50mm tires definitely smoothed out the trail and the frame looks like it could fit even bigger tires.
  • Pedal forces are translated directly into the rear wheel due to the stiffness of the frame which also translates into a little bit harsher ride.
